Last weekend my girlfried and me went out to the nearby Sierra de Guadarrama (about one hour away from Madrid).
We took the road to Puerto de Cotos (there’s also a train station there, which we are planning to use on winter). From there, at about 1.900 meters, start 6 routes which continue climbing the mountain and into the Parque de Peñalara (Peñalara’s Park).
We chose the sortests path (towards the Laguna Grande), which in hour guide where 2.5 hours… however it took us much less. Next time we’ll take a longer one.
The park was full of families with children and dogs… so you can get and idea of how easy it was (I was expecting to arrive exhausted to the end of the route).
The picture is a view down from Laguna Grande.
